Perseverance I was able to get some post WRTC comments from a couple of teams and also what they heard of other teams. There are some real stories of perseverance by many teams! No doubt teams had lots of commitment but the perseverance despite setbacks was impressive from a spectator's standpoint. One team lost both radios due to lightening and operated with FT-857 radios. Multiple reports of various issues with Elecraft K3 radios. So a radio costing less than $1,000 seemed to hold up better than a more expensive radio, hah! I found that interesting since I use the FT-857 on my Central America trips. I hope the WRTC organizers make an effort to capture each teams story since there are some really good ones out there! I'm on the tarmac in Washington,DC waiting for storms to go by.
